Welcome to the Jordan/Jackson Elementary School!
Principal's Welcome Letter
Welcome to the Jordan/Jackson Elementary School.
Jordan/Jackson is the third, fourth and fifth grade school for the town of Mansfield, which is centrally located, 28 miles south of Boston and 19 miles north of Providence. Our student population this year is approximately 1,100 students. We are very fortunate that the entire Mansfield community is supportive and active in our schools.
Jordan/Jackson is the major transition school for children of Mansfield. Mansfield has one K-2 elementary school, the Robinson School, which all children attend for their primary level foundation. The children then proceed to J/J for their intermediate schooling and preparation for Qualters Middle School for grade 6 through 8. Student academic performance must be the backbone of any successful learning community.
We support a life-long learning ethic for our students by encouraging them to take responsibility for their education. For our staff, life-long learning is supported by a strong Professional Development Program. Our school community believes in a child-centered environment. We believe that every person within our community is an individual with special strengths and areas where there are opportunities to improve. With this in mind, there are several programs that we feel contribute to the wonderful learning environment evident here: Scott Foresman Reading Street program, enVision Math Program and problem solving; Open Circle (Social Competency Program); Visual and Performing Arts Programs, CHAMPS. (before and after-school program); Volunteers in the Public School; and many Mansfield Community Service Projects.
We are looking forward to a wonderful school year.
